Feedback from our Parents
At King Charles we value communication and put great emphasis on ensuring that we communicate with parents and carers – listening to, and sharing with each other.

Autumn Term 2018 Report Feedback
This year saw us launch a ‘new look’ interim report. As we have always done, we will continue to provide a termly ‘interim report’ but this new look is based on previous feedback where there was too much information that parents found confusing and not always relevant. Whilst we recognise that this new format is ‘streamlined’, it will be shared through a meeting with the teacher ensuring that there is opportunity to talk about our pupils beyond a simple report. Click here to see some of the feedback where you will see our actions based on your views.
Open Morning for Prospective Reception Parents
In November 2018 we opened our doors and welcomed parents of pupils who, in 2019, will be ready to start school. As always, we gathered feedback and the results can be seen here.
The feedback included comments including:
“Really impressed by the school! Great first impressions – such a lovely feel to it and everyone we met was so lovely.”
“The school is beautifully maintained and it is really clear to see that the pupils are thriving in a happy environment. The displays throughout the building show the pupils’ commitment and enthusiasm to learning.”
Actions for Next Year’s Open Morning:
*Ensure that it is made clear that any unanswered questions can be directed at members of SLT who, like this year, were available at the end of the tour.
*Ensure that information about standards is shared as part of the Headteacher’s introduction.
*Make it clear that visitors are invited into classrooms and to ask questions to any member of staff.
*Direct prospective parents to displays and information about our provision of extra-curricular activities.
End of Year Report Feedback
At the end of each year when sending home our ‘end of year reports’ we invite your feedback on the report and the year as a whole. Here is a copy of some of the comments that were received. Again we were overjoyed with the feedback and of course, listened to your ideas and concerns and added these into our whole school development plan for the coming year.
The IMPACT of your feedback:
*Helping with Home Learning – some parents requested further support in how to help their children at home. This is something that we are working to include in our ‘meet the teacher’ meetings as well as through our website. We will keep you updated through our website and newsletters.
*Lunches – some parents raised concerns over the variety of meals provided. This has been shared with our catering provider and already our school council have been involved in making menu choices.
*Sports – a few parents asked about adding a more competitive element to our KS2 sports days which we put in place in Summer 2018. Moving forward, Mr Harris (our PE Leader) has lots of other exciting ideas about ensuring a degree of competition is included in what is already a successful part of our year.
*Communication – Ensuring that we communicate with you quickly, effectively and easily is vital. We’re adding to our ‘communication streams’ through using Facebook, e mailing newsletters to you and through our new Parents’ Forum.
*Parents’ Evenings – lots of parents asked that these were earlier to help know that pupils had settled well into the new year. From Autumn 2018 our first meeting will be in October (just before half term) which we know you will find much more beneficial.
Parent Questionnaire Feedback
Each Spring Term we ask our parents to complete a questionnaire to help us gather views, ideas and concerns. In Spring 2018 we recieved this feedback from our parents and were delighted with the overwhelmingly positive feedback. Just as important as the successes, we listened to your ideas and shared how we plan to move forward.
